6 Fun Easter Activities for Kids

There’s nothing like a couple of extra days off work to spend with the family, and an excuse to consume your body weight in chocolate, which is why Easter is so much fun! Celebrate everyone's favourite long weekend, and keep the party going long after all the eggs are found with some baking, crafting & relaxing - all toddler, big kid and adult approved!

Paper Mache Eggs - Blow up water balloons to make the eggs, add your paper strips and paste, wait for them to dry and then get creative with paint and whatever other embellishments you like! This will keep the little ones entertained for hours, and you can keep the eggs for Easter decorations for years to come.

Easter Egg Hunt - The classic of all classics when it comes to Easter, and I know in my family the adults have just as much fun hiding the eggs as the kids do finding them! How about leveling up your egg hunt this year by adding a special egg that can be traded in for a prize, or using some tricky clues that will keep the kids busy for ages!

Make & Send Easter Cards - Who doesn’t love receiving snail mail?! Get the kids making Easter cards for their nearest and dearest. It will brighten the recipients day, the kids will love being creative, and they get to practice their writing too, a winner all around!

Watch an Easter Movie - Gather your Easter eggs, whip up some popcorn, get the blankets out and watch a family movie together! Our favourite bunny-themed movies are Watership Down, Peter Rabbit, Hop, and Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade… This is also a good chance for the grown ups to have a sneaky lie down after being woken up early by the gaggle of eager egg hunters!

Easter Baking - If the Easter eggs alone haven’t provided enough sugar, why not partake in a family baking session? Hot cross buns, a cake decorated with eggs & sprinkles, bunny shaped iced cookies - there are so many delicious options for all ages and skill levels, just make sure the kids help with the clean up afterwards too!

Make Chocolate Fondue - Just in case you haven’t had enough chocolate already, a chocolate fondue is so much fun, and seriously delicious! Get the kids help to prepare the foods to be dipped, like fruit, marshmallows and pretzels, and get ready for some mess. Huge chocolatey smiles guaranteed!

As fun as Easter is, it’s sometimes a challenge to keep the chocolate-filled kids entertained for the long weekend, so we hope these Easter activities for kids have given you some new ideas and inspiration. It’s the perfect chance to make some special memories, and maybe start some new traditions too! Happy Easter!
